Slide 4: Our Audience
Songwriter Sanctuary attendees are community-minded folks who enjoy patronizing local businesses in Normal Heights and surrounding areas. Many regular attendees are musicians and creatives themselves who are passionate about building a culture of care.
In recent attendee surveys, 84.2% of respondents valued Inclusivity nearly as highly as Quality of Music/Performers (89.5%).
Sample audience testimonials:
“I love the diverse voices that get the opportunity to perform in this beautiful space.”
“I love that ALL the $ goes to the artists. I love the diversity of musical genres too.”
“Songwriter Sanctuary provides a community space for artist to thrive and succeed.”
Fun fan fact: Our distinctive booking format means every show delivers a solid mix of returning supporters and first-time guests, generating lasting exposure for our partners. 2025 season ranged from about 50-200 attendees, with two near sold-out shows.

Slide 7: Accessibility Sponsor
Songwriter Sanctuary is seeking (1) Accessibility Sponsors at $7700k. This would cover 2 ASL providers and associated costs per show for 8 shows. (There are 10 shows at NHUnited in the 2026 season, and 2 are covered via other funding.)
Sponsor Benefits:
Slide 8: Why Accessibility?
Inclusion Matters: If we aren’t intentionally designing inclusive, accessible arts spaces (from both a financial and disability lens), we are inadvertently excluding our community members. The burden for advocating for access shouldn’t always be on the person experiencing marginalization. As curators, we should find creative solutions to reduce barriers.
It’s Smart Business: When we make our spaces accessible and more inclusive, more people show up, which generates more revenue, which supports our goal of keeping creatives in San Diego by helping them earn a living wage for their original work.
Access Benefits All: Integrating accessibility features often yields benefits for the entire group (think curb cuts, captioning). We have already received positive feedback from attendees who feel ASL interpreters and digital lyric access enriches the overall experience, making performances more engaging and intimate for everyone, not just d/Deaf/HH folks.
Slide 9: Thank you for your time and commitment to supporting and sustaining local artists. Please contact to discuss further!
